Adult Catechesis (O.C.I.A.)
At St. Francis de Sales, our OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a privileged moment of grace—an opportunity to discover the splendor of the Catholic faith, to seek ongoing conversion of heart, and to find a true spiritual home in the Church. The program is rooted in our parish’s enduring mission to serve the spiritual needs of both residents and visitors to the Beach, echoing the vision of St. John Paul II, who called the Church a “community of disciples” where every person is invited to encounter the living Christ.
Grounded in inquiry, evangelization, prayer, and study, OCIA accompanies adults who seek Baptism, full communion with the Catholic Church, or the completion of their Christian initiation. Through weekly meetings in a small, supportive community, participants reflect on the teachings of the Church, experience the richness of Sacred Scripture, and journey toward the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist—the sacraments that open the way to the fullness of Christian life.
When the time comes to celebrate the sacraments of initiation—at the Easter Vigil—participants are embraced by the parish family and share in a joyful celebration of new life. Every soul who turns to Christ becomes a radiant sign of hope for the world.

Classes are held on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM in English and Spanish.
